4.3 Conformance inspection. Unless otherwise specified, sampling for inspection shall
be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-1916.
4.3.1 Component and material inspection. Components and materials shall be inspected
in accordance with all the requirements of referenced documents, unless otherwise excluded,
amended, modified, or qualified in this specification or applicable purchase document.
4.3.2 In-process inspection. Inspection of subassemblies shall be made to ascertain that
construction details, which cannot be examined in the finished product, are in accordance with
specified requirements. The Government reserves the right to exclude from consideration for
acceptance, any material or service for which in-process inspection has indicated
nonconformance. Inspection shall be made of the following fabrication operations to establish
conformance with specified requirements:
a. That color coded wire is used throughout the wiring of the light assembly and is in
agreement with the wiring schematic and that the wire is of the specified wire size.
b. That all materials are properly coated or protected from corrosion effects.
c. That all electrical wires are properly routed and insulated to prevent abrasion from
sharp edges.
d. That all mounting hardware is properly secured.
e. That all soldering is in accordance with specified requirements and soldered
connections have complete fusion, no excess solder, no porosity or inclusions, and all flux has
been removed.
