3.8 Lampholder. The lampholder shall permit easy insertion and removal of the lamp. The lampholder shall be of the “Electrolier” size, shall have a push switch, and shall conform to UL 496.
3.9 Performance. The desk light shall meet all applicable test requirements of UL 153.
3.10 Finish. All surfaces except aluminum reflecting surfaces shall be covered completely with one or more coats of enamel or by electroplating. Reflecting surfaces other than aluminum shall be white and all other enameled surfaces shall be either smooth or crackle finish or brown, bronze, or gray, as specified (see 7.2). All enameled surfaces shall be free from tears, star marks, crazing, blisters, hairlines, chipping, pinholes, and other irregularities or defects.
3.11 Nameplate. Unless otherwise specified, a nameplate meeting the requirements of UL 153 shall be securely attached to the light in an inconspicuous location.
3.12 Workmanship. The desk lights shall be free from defects which detract from the appearance or which might impair the serviceability. Electrical connections shall be secure, metal joints and seams shall be tight, and all edges shall be rounded or beveled.
3.13 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within tolerances specified and all other requirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable.
3.14 Standard commercial product. The desk light shall, as a minimum, be in accordance with the requirements of this CID and shall be the manufacturer’s standard commercial product. A standard commercial product is a product which has been sold or is currently offered for sale on the commercial market through advertisements, manufacturer’s catalogs, or brochures, and represents the latest production model.
4. REGULATORY REUQIREMENTS.
4.1 Recovered materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
