COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
LIGHT, DESK
High Intensity
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-L-37560 which is cancelled.
This Commercial Item Description covers a small, high-intensity desk light suitable for use in hospital wards.
Salient characteristics:
The desk light shall be a miniature, glare-free, dual-intensity, high intensity type light suitable for use on a hospital ward desk. The light shall consist of a base and a lamphead, connected by an adjustable, variable height, articulating arm, and a power cord and plug.
The base dimensions shall not exceed 3 inches wide, 5 inches long and 2-1/2 inches high. The base shall contain a transformer and a three-position switch with “off”, “low intensity,” and “high intensity” positions. The base shall rest stably on a flat surface and shall have a slotted hole in the bottom for wall mounting. The light shall have two arms connected together which shall permit a wide range of vertical and horizontal adjustment. The minimum length of the lower and upper arms shall be 6 inches and 8 inches, respectively. The arms shall be fabricated from plated steel or corrosion-resisting steel tubing, either round or rectangular.
The lamphead shall consist of the reflector, the socket, and the lamp. The reflector shall have a diameter of 4 to 4-1/2 inches. The lamp shall be a commercial number 1133 incandescent lamp. The light shall be supplied with a lamp and two spares.
